WHAT IS CMT?
We all want our beloved canine companions to be healthy and pain-free. But the wear and tear of everyday life can lead to stiff, sore muscles, restricted movement and pain, just as they can in humans. Structural problems, ageing, injuries, surgery and degenerative conditions such as arthritis can have a ripple effect on the whole body, causing pain and mobility problems in areas distant from the original site. This is where CMT can help.
Canine Myofunctional Therapy (CMT) is the manipulation of muscles and connective tissue in dogs to enhance function, ease discomfort, and promote overall relaxation and wellbeing. Dogs of all ages and conditions, from canine athletes to dedicated couch potatoes and all those in-between can benefit from massage, stretching and other specialized techniques customised to individual needs.

WHAT DOES CMT DO?
Amongst other benefits, CMT can help to: Increase muscle tone, flexibility and range of movement Improve gait and posture Increase blood supply and oxygenation to muscles, and nutrient uptake by muscle cells Stimulate the lymphatic system, increase immunity, and release waste products from body tissues Manage pain and inhibit scar tissue formation in post-surgical and degenerative conditions Slow muscle degeneration in older dogs and reduce pain Maximise performance and decrease the chance of injury in working and performance dogs -
“Warm up” and “cool down” muscles before and after performance
Improve skin and coat condition Assist organ function through increased circulation and lymphatic drainage Calm and relax by lowering blood pressure and heart rate.
